CAC and MCC XC Teams Compete at Manny Bautista Invite

San Diego, CA - The Central Arizona and Mesa men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Manny Bautista Invite on Friday.

San Diego Mesa College hosted the meet at NTC Park in Liberty Station. The men raced four miles and the women raced 5,000 meters.

Both the men's and women's teams for the Vaqueros and Thunderbirds placed within the top three in the final team results.

The lady T-Birds won the women's race with 60 points and the Vaqueras were third with 92 points.

Kate Brockman of Mesa was the individual runner-up with a time of 18:48.5. Beatrice Keditukei was the top finisher for CAC, as she was fourth overall with a time of 19:08.1.

The Vaqueros were second in the men's race with 83 points and the T-Birds were third with 95 points. Mesa won the tiebreaker over Mt. SAC since the T-Bird's sixth runner finished ahead of the Mountie's sixth runner.

Yotuel Garcia of Mesa was the individual runner-up with a time of 20:09.3. Elliot Smith was the top finisher for CAC, as he was sixth overall with a time of 20:35.2.

Both CAC and MCC will head out to California again next week to compete in the UCR Highlander Invitational on Saturday the 15th. Paradise Valley will travel to Wisconsin to compete in the UW-La Crosse Drews/Neubauer Invitational on the 15th as well.
