Mesa takes second in both Embry-Riddle cross country event'; Resendez wins men's race

  Mesa took second place to the host school in both the women's and men's divisions at the Embry-Riddle Invitational Saturday in Prescott, AZ.

  Pima also competed in the men's race and entered an incomplete team for the women's event. Glendale had runners in both races and Estrella Mountain ran athletes in the men's race.

  On the women's side, MCC's Kate Brockman placed fifth behind four Embry-Riddle runners among 34 runners. Her time was 21:11.84. Glendale's Kjersti Jenks was 26th in 27:25.94 and Pima's lone runner, Carolina Vega-Picos was 34th in 32:24.80.

  Among the men, the T-Birds' Caden Resendez won the men's division with a 26:43.41 clocking.

  Pima was the only other complete ACCAC team and took sixth place. Reichen Cooke was the top finisher for the Aztecs in 27th place in 32:12.52 in the 50-runner field. Glendale was represented by two runners with Owen Chugg placing 25th with a time of 32:06.69.  Estrella Mountain fielded three runners led by Niko Panousopoulos in 28th place in 32:19.21.

    The ACCAC will next hold its conference championship Oct. 1 with Paradise Valley hosting the event at Freestone Park in Gilbert, AZ.
