ACCAC cross country opens at NAU event

  ACCAC cross country squads headed north to open their 2021 cross country seasons at Northern Arizona's George Kyte Classic Saturday.

  Both the Mesa men and women were the top finishers among two-year schools, both p0lacing sixth overall against mostly NCAA Division I competition.

  The MCC men scored 160 points with Central Arizona next at 189. Pima followed at 236 with Phoenix scoring 288. On the women's side, MCC and Pima were the only complete ACCAC competitors with the T-Birds at 164 and Pima scoring 223.

  Caden Resendez, of Mesa, placed 21st among the men with a 4.5-mile time of 24:37.0. CAC's top runner was Davin Soto, 28th in 24:56.3. For Pima the top place finisher was Avery Dylla who came in 50th with a time of 26:12.2. Phoenix' top finisher was Miguel Molina who ran in 78th place in 29:08.5.

  For the women, Kate Brockman paced MCC by taking 31st place with a time of 17:49 for 2.5 miles, while Pima was led by Megan Rasey who was 62nd in 20:00.4.

Many ACCAC teams will compete in the Embry Riddle Invitational next Saturday in Prescott, AZ.
