Indoor track and field season opens at Puma Inv.

ACCAC athletes picked up three NJCAA indoor qualifying spots as the season got underway at Paradise Valley's Puma Indoor meet.

  The hosts' Corde Long recorded two of the three qualifying marks. She won the 200 meters in 21.61 and took the 60-meter hurdles in 8.34.

  In addition, Anthony Medrano, of Glendale, qualified in the men's weight throw with a toss of 50-5 ½.

  Also, all sophomores who had qualifying marks as freshmen last year in individual events will automatically qualify for the up-coming indoor title meet.

  NJCAA Indoor nationals will be held March 5-6 at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan.

  The next meet for ACCAC schools will be Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Mesa Indoor at Mesa CC.
