Phoenix College Wins 5th Straight National Championship —For the fifth year in a row, Phoenix College is the NJCAA Division 2 National Champion. Patricia Moreno struckout out 15 and Lacy Goodman connected on her third homerun of the tournament in a 9-1 victory for the Lady Bears over Copiah-Lincoln CC. Goodman was selected the Tournament MVP and PC Head Coach Heinz Mueller was tabbed the National Coach of the Year. Joining Goodman on the NJCAA D2 All-Tournament Team were teammates Teddy Barry and Vanessa Walle.

PC in Championship Game After Another Rally — The Bears are one game away from their fifth consecutive NJCAA Division 2 National Championship after scoring an 8-5 win over Copiah-Lincoln CC. Phoenix College scored four runs in the sixth inning to advance in the winner's bracket and take the huge advantage of having to be beaten twice in the championship game.

Yavapai Drops Two on Opening Day of NJCAA D1 Championships — Yavapai College, the #3 seed entering the NJCAA Division 1 National Championships, lost two games on the opening day and has been eliminated from the tourney. Iowa Western CC defeated Yavapai 10-7 in eight innings and then McLennan CC defeated the Roughriders 4-2

Bears Score Comeback Win at NJCAA D2 Championships —Phoenix College scored five times in the fifth inning to score a come-from-behind 7-6 victory over Iowa Lakes CC and remain in the winner's bracket of the 2008 NJCAA Division 2 National Championships. Lacy Goodman connected for a three-run homerun, Tina Hiley posted a 2-run shot, and Dana Goquen connected ona solo homer for the Bears.

Walle Throws No Hitter for PC IN NJCAA Tourney Opener — In the first game of the 2008 NJCAA Division II National Championships for Phoenix College, Vanessa Walle hurled a no-hitter as the Bears defeated Lansing CC 4-0. Walle also connected for a two-run homer, Dana Gougan had a solo shot, and Ashlie Rosenberg posted a sacrifice fly for the final run. PC will face Iowa Lakes CC in the winner's bracket at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.

Phoenix Captures Region I Title, Set for Run at 5th Consecutive National Championship — The Pittsburgh Steelers got "One for the Thumb." Now, the PC Bears will try and get one for their thumb...IN A ROW! Phoenix College captured the NJCAA Region I Division 2 Championship and will travel to Normal, IL, on May 13th, to open defense of the Bears four straight National Championships. Yavapai Captures Region I D1 Title, Advances to National Tourney — Yavapai, playing its first season of softball in 27 years, captured the NJCAA Region I Division 1 Championship with a 7-5 victory over defending National Chjampion Eastern Arizona. The Roughriders' Jenna Rodriguez, a freshman pitcher, posted a 2-1 record and hit over .500 at the plate to earn MVP honors. Yavapai will take its 44-16 record and #12 National ranking to the NJCAA Championships beginning May 15th. | NJCAA Region I Division 1 Playoffs |

Phoenix College to Host Region I Division 2 Playoffs — The Bears are the #1 ranked Division 2 team in the nation and will host the Region I Division 2 tourney as the top seed. #2 Chandler-Gilbert will play #3 Mesa at 10 a.m. while PC will play #4 Glendale at Noon when the tournament begins on May 2nd. | NJCAA Region I Division 2 Playoffs |

Yavapai Set to Host Region I Division 1 Playoffs — As the top seed, Yavapai will play host to the NJCAA Region I Division 2 Tournament on May 2nd and May 3rd. #2 seed Eastern Arizona and #3 seed Pima will open play at 10 a.m. on May 2nd. | NJCAA Region I Division 1 Playoffs |

#1 Ranked Phoenix Dominates Season Awards — Phoenix College is the #1 NJCAA D2 program in the land and the Bears strong season was rewarded when the ACCAC and NJCAA Region I announced its 2008 awards. Lacy Goodman was tabbed the NJCAA Region I Player of the Year while PC's Coach Heinz Mueller was named the Region I Coach of the Year. Central & Phoenix Again Dominate Region I Awards — For the second straight week, Central Arizona and Phoenix College have swept the NJCAA Region I softball honors. Central's Kayla Ringelberg and Alex Villalobos are the Region I Division 1 Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, while Phoenix College's Lacy Goodman and Patricia Moreno earned the Division 2 Player and Pitcher of the Week awards. The top-ranked PC Bears have won eight of the nine Division 2 awards handed out by the NJCAA Region I this year. | more |

Esperas & Tema Earn D1 Awards, Mailou Takes D2 Award — Eastern Arizona's Noe Esperas has earned the NJCAA Region I Division 1 Pitcher of the Week award for the second time this season, while Eastern Arizona's Jackie Tema took the Player of the Week honor. In Division 2, Chandler-Gilbert's Jenna Mailou led the Coyote's past #1 ranked Phoenix College to earn the NJCAA Region I Division 2 Player of the Week award. | more |

Hopwood & Duarte Take D1 Region Honors, Moreno & Goguen Earn D2 Awards — Eastern Arizona's Sara Hopwood has earned the NJCAA Region I Division 1 Player of the Week award, while Yavapai's Shauna Duarte took the Pitcher of the Week honor. In Division 2, #1 ranked Phoenix College's Patricia Moreno and Dana Goguen were selected the NJCAA Region I Division 2 Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively. | more |

Eastern Arizona (36-6) is ranked #1 in Division I while Phoenix College (43-4) sits atop the Division 2 standings.
