South Mountain is leading and Glendale is fourth after the second day of play at the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship Wednesday.
SMCC has fired a 297-294-591 total at the Twin Hills G&CC in Joplin, Mo. GCC has a 298-299—597 to sit just six shots back. Kirkwood is in second place at 593 and Meridian third with a 596.
The Cougars' Cecil Belisle is currently tied for second place with the Gauchos Matthew Creighton. Belisle has recorded a 71-71—142, two under par, while Creighton got to 142 by shooting rounds of 69 and 73.
Zachary Erskine, of SMCC, and Porter Bracket, of Glendale, are among a group of seven players tied for ninth place with 146s.
Beau Autery, of Paradise Valley, is in a tie for 24th place at 149 among independent players.
