Pima in DI, South Mountain in DII, win Region I Men's Golf titles

 Pima and South Mountain won the Region I Men's Golf Championships in Divisions I and II respectively  Sunday in the tournament played at the Corte Bella G.C. in Sun City West, AZ.

  Both now qualify for the NJCAA national tournaments. Pima will be headed to Odessa, Texas, for the DI event which will be played May 10-13 at the Odessa C.C., while South Mountain will play May 17-20 at the Twin Hills C.C. in Jopin, Mo. Other teams from the region will have to await possible at large bids.

  The Aztecs won with a 72-hole total of 1152 to 1203 for Estrella Mountain. The Cougars prevailed in DII with an 1136 to Glendale's 1158.

  Individually, In DI, two PCC players wound up tied for medal honors with 286 totals. Jay Shero won a playoff against Daniel Henely while Max Krueger took third place at 287.

  In DII, Cecil Belisle, of SMCC, fired a seven-under par 277 to capture medal honors over teammate Ethan Klose who carded a 281.
