South Mountain and Glendale are tied for the lead in Division II at the Region I men's golf championship and Pima has the lead in Division I after the first round of play at the Corte Bella G.C., in Sun City, AZ.
SMCC, which won all of the regular season ACCAC tournaments, was paced by Cecil Belisle, who carded a 69, as the Cougars shot a 294 total. Glendale, which also had a 294, was led by Porter Brackett with a 71.
Division I leader Pima was paced by Max Krueger whose 69 headed a team total of 285. Estrella Mountain is second having shot a 299 led by Ethan Mesch's 73.
The tournament continues through Sunday.
