OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Mesa quarterback Blake Kemp (Chandler, Ariz., Hamilton HS) led the Thunderbirds to their first win over Snow College since 1993. Kemp completed 20-of-37 passes for 418 yards and three touchdowns while being intercepted only once. His touchdowns included an 85-yard scoring pass. The 6’2” 205-pound sophomore also picked up 21 yards rushing on eight attempts. Kemp engineered drives of 95 and 99 yards to break the backs of the Badgers. Kemp is tied with Scottsdale’s Blake Decker leading the nation with 17 touchdown passes.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Scottsdale linebacker Isaiah Riddle, 6’3” 205 pounds, came off the bench to record a huge game in the Artichoke win over Pima. The sophomore from Newnan, Georgia, had 15 solo tackles and 4 assists (19 tackles total) which included five tackles for loss. Riddle had several tackles which were critical stopping Pima drives as Scottsdale held on for the seven-point win. 


SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - In the third quarter of Scottsdale’s game with Pima, the Artichokes’ Teddy Ruben returned a kickoff 96 yards for what proved to be the game-winning score as Scottsdale got by the Aztecs, 35-28. Earlier, Ruben, 5’10” 170-pound sophomore from Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, had returned a punt 57 yards for a touchdown, giving him two special teams scores in the game. Ruben also had five receptions for 56 yards at his wide receiver position.
