OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Mesa quarterback Blake Kemp (Chandler, Ariz., Hamilton HS) completed 33 of his 57 passes for 556 yards and five touchdowns. The 6’2”, 205-pound sophomore signal caller also ran for two touchdowns with 29 yards on five carries as he accounted for seven total touchdowns in Mesa’s 58-55 shootout loss to Scottsdale. Kemp currently leads the nation with 16 touchdown passes and is second nationally with 364.5 passing yards per game.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – New Mexico Military’s Ieti Manu’s three tackles were all for losses in the Bronco’ 35-24 win over Air Force Prep. Manu, a 6’2”, 230-pound freshman defensive end from Pago Pago, American Samoa, had a seven-yard sack among his tackles which moved Air Force Prep back a total of 16 yards.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Freshman punter Kolby Gregory was instrumental in Glendale’s 13-10 win at Eastern Arizona. Gregory, 5’11”, 185 pounds from Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale, Ariz., averaged 46.5 yards on four punts including a pair of punts which pinned Eastern Arizona at the 4- and the 1-yard line in a game in which field position was crucial.
