Tucson, AZ - The Pima Aztecs baseball team has won the NJCAA Region I, Div. I Baseball Championship against the Arizona Western Matadors.

The Aztecs won the best-of-three series, 2-1. Pima won Game One on Thursday, 9-7, but AWC was able to force a Game Three after a 10-6 victory in Game Two on Friday.

Pima was able to hold onto a 6-4 series-clinching win on Saturday and earn their first region title since the 1998 season.

The Aztecs will play in the NJCAA Div. I West District Tournament from May 18th through the 20th. The location and schedule will be determined at a later date.
