YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 5 ranked Arizona Western Matadors Women's Soccer team (8-0, 6-0) continued its undefeated start to the season with a 5-0 win over Mohave (1-7-1, 1-4-1) on Saturday night at Bullhead City, Ariz., at Firebird Field.
Dianna Taddei scored two of the Matadors' five goals as the Matadors scored four of their five goals in the first half.
Yui Suetsugu opened the scoring in the eighth minute to give the Matadors a 1-0 lead before Taddei scored her first goal of the game in the 16th minute to push the lead to 2-0. Taddei secured the brace nine minutes later to up the lead to 3-0. Ana Velazquez added the Matadors' fourth goal just before the half.
Linka Ono capped off the scoring with 29 minutes remaining to extend the advantage to 5-0 as Matadors' goalkeeper Iyan Hernandez kept the Bighorns off the scoreboard for 90 minutes.
The Matadors head to California for an ACCAC matchup with Community Christian on Tuesday, October 7, at 7:00 pm.
