PUMA WOMEN SHOW GRIT IN SEASON OPENER

PUMA WOMEN SHOW GRIT IN SEASON OPENER
Women's Soccer opened their 2024 season with a challenging match against the #4 nationally ranked Phoenix College on August 27. Despite a 10-0 loss, the Pumas showcased resilience, determination, and the early signs of a team building toward unity and growth under new Head Coach Uriarte.

Coach Uriarte's squad played with heart and a commitment to their team motto, "Strength In Unity." "This game was a true test for us," said Coach Uriarte. "Our focus is on developing trust, communication, and team cohesion. Every match is a learning opportunity, and I'm proud of how our players fought until the final whistle."

The Pumas, led by standout performances by goalkeeper Sydney King, who made seven saves during her time on the field, and defender Ila Bezzant, worked tirelessly to compete against PC's relentless attack. King, along with fellow keeper Magdalena Eastwood, combined for 10 total saves, providing crucial support for the team.

While the result wasn't in their favor, Coach Uriarte remains focused on the big picture. "This is just the beginning of our journey together," he added. "We are building a team that believes in itself, and one another. We're not defined by one game but by our growth and ability to unite as a unit."

Looking ahead, the Pumas will continue their season on Saturday, August 31, when they travel to Tucson to face Pima Community College at 8pm.
