Second half dooms Matadors in 80-66 loss to Snow

The Arizona Western Matadors Men's Basketball team (8-3) had four players score in double-figures in an 80-66 loss to No. 8 ranked Snow College (10-0) on Friday night on the final day of the Region 1/18 Challenge in Ephraim, Utah at the Horne Activity Center.

The Matadors outscored Snow 38-36 in the first half and led by as many as five points twice in the first 20 minutes before being held to 28 points in the second, giving up 44 points to the Badgers, losing their second consecutive game for the first time this season.

Arizona Western opened its largest lead of the game at 52-46 with 13:45 to play in the game but Snow responded with a 17-0 run to open up a 63-52 lead with 7:08 to play in the game.

Matija Gledic led the Matadors with 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the loss and Jannoy Thomas was the Matadors' second-leading scorer, scoring 11 points and collecting 10 rebounds. AJ Marmolejos also scored in double-figures, scoring 11 points.

The Matadors return to ACCAC play at home on Wednesday, December 6, hosting Chandler-Gilbert at 7:30 pm at the House Gymnasium. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for seniors while Arizona Western College students get in free with their AWC ID.
