Men's Basketball extends winning streak to three games with 107-64 win over Community Christian

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Men's Basketball team (7-1) scored 21 of the first 23 points before cruising to a 107-64 win over Community Christian (0-10) in the final game of the Chapman Automotive Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday night at the House Gymnasium.  

AJ Marmolejos scored a game-high 30 points on 10-of-13 shooting while hitting five three-pointers in six attempts to help the Matadors win their third consecutive game.

The Matadors opened the game on a 21-2 run to jump out to the early lead before Community Christian trimmed that lead to 12 thanks to a 9-2 run, cutting the Matadors' advantage to 23-11. Arizona Western went on to outscore the Saints 28-14 over the final 10 minutes of the half to take a 51-25 lead into the locker room.

LaRoi Glover scored 11 of his 16 points in the second half and Matija Kustudic scored seven of his 10 points in the second as the Matadors outscored the Saints 56-39 in the second half.

Edwin Suarez scored 12 points in the win and grabbed 10 rebounds and Matija Gledic also finished with a double-double, scoring 111 points and hauling in a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Matadors are back in action on Tuesday, November 28, opening conference play with a trip to Phoenix to take on the Bears at 7:00 pm.
