Women's volleyball team finishes 4-0 in Arizona
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team wrapped up the Chapman Automotive AWC Invitational a perfect 4-0 in Yuma, Arizona.
The 18th ranked Titans defeated No. 13 Eastern Arizona in straight sets in their final game of the weekend. Eastern Florida State College picked up the win, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-21 to improve to 7-0 on the season.
The Titans got off to a slow start, trailing 5-2 in the first set before the Titans got into sync and tied the match 7-7 on a Flavia Romanelli kill. Gaia Riedmuller recorded two aces and scored four straight points as the Titans took an 11-7 lead. The match would get tight later as Eastern Arizona tied things 18-18, but the Titans came back to lead 24-23 and Emma Kiser had a kill to finish off the first set and give the Titans a 1-0 lead.
Eastern Florida State College got off to a much better start in the second set, taking the lead from the start and was up by as many as six until Eastern Arizona made a late run to pull within one point at 22-21. But the Titans would go up 2-0, scoring the two final points to win 25-22.
Six different players scored kills in the first 11 points of the third set as the Titans once again jumped out to an early lead. Sofia Kamke had five kills in the set as the Titans wrapped up the weekend with a 25-21 win.
Eastern Florida State College will return to Florida and be at home Tuesday evening against the Florida State College at Jacksonville at 6 p.m. at Titan Field House. Admission is free and you can watch the match live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
