YUMA, Ariz. – Dyvine Harris, Davielis Berroa, and Chenai Mushore combined for 36 points to help Arizona Western Lady Matadors Women's Basketball (2-1) to a 71-40 win over Weatherford (1-2) on the first day of the Midland College Tip-Off Classic on Thursday afternoon in Midland, Texas.
The Lady Matadors got 12 points from each of Harris, Berrora, and Mushore as the Lady Matadors scored a season-high 71 points in the win. Berroa scored all 12 of her points in the second half along with a strong second-half effort from Mushore who scored 10 of her 12 in the second half and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
After a close first quarter in which the Lady Matadors outscored Weatherford 14-13, Arizona Western held the Coyotes to just six points in the second, taking a 31-19 lead into the break.
The Lady Matadors outscored Weatherford by ten in the third quarter and scored a game-high 21 points in the fourth to pull away for the 71-40 win.
Alliance Ndiba finished as the fourth Lady Matador in double-figures, scoring 11 points while Rita Gomes ended the game with nine.
The Lady Matadors are back in action at the Midland College Tip-Off Classic on Friday night, taking on the hosts Midland at 6:00 p.m. at the Chaparral Center.
