Harris hits six threes in Lady Matadors' 71-58 win over Yavapai

PRESCOTT, Ariz., The Arizona Western Lady Matadors Women's Basketball team (7-3, 3-0) used a 25 points performance from Dyvine Harris to beat Yavapai (1-5, 1-2) 71-58 on Friday night at Walraven Gymnasium.

Harris hit a season-high six three-pointers while Chenai Mushore scored 14 points and Alliance Ndiba added 17 points.

Mushore scored the Lady Matadors' first six points to help the Lady Matadors jump out to a 6-3 lead. Yavapai took an 11-10 lead before a Harris three and a Fatima Katembo jumper followed by a last-second jumper from Davielis Berroa put the Lady Matadors up 17-13.

Arizona Western opened the second quarter on a 7-2 run to push the lead to 24-15. The Lady Matadors outscored the Roughriders 21-7 in the quarter to go into the locker room at halftime with a 38-20 lead.

Both teams traded the first 20 points of the third quarter before Harris hit the first of three made threes in the quarter to give the Lady Matadors a 51-33 lead. Arizona Western continued to stretch the lead, taking a 57-35 lead to the fourth quarter. The Lady Matadors were held to 13 points in the fourth quarter but were able to close out the game, winning their fifth consecutive game, 71-58.

The Lady Matadors are back in action against Yavapai on Saturday, December 9, at 2:00 pm at Walraven Gymnasium for the second of four regular-season meetings.
