Sanchez hits walk-off homer in Matadors' 12-11 win over Asian Breeze

YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 13 ranked Arizona Western College Matadors Baseball team (16-5) used a walk-off home run from Fausto Sanchez to come from behind and beat Asian Breeze 12-11 in seven innings on Thursday afternoon at Walt Kammann Baseball Field.

 Sanchez went 1-for-1 with three walks and a two-run homer while Robert Miranda went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles in the win.

The Matadors scored two runs in the first inning to open the scoring but Asian Breeze scored a run in the third and added four more in the fourth inning to grab a 5-2 advantage. The Matadors batted 12 times in the bottom of the fourth and scored seven runs on just one hit, drawing six walks and reaching base on two hit-by-pitches.

Asian Breeze used another big inning to retake the lead at 11-10 but Sanchez gave the Matadors the win with their second walk-off home run in the last three games.

Nathan Houston went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and walk while Sergio DeCello walked twice and scored two runs.

The Matadors are back in action on Saturday, March 2, hosting Cochise in an ACCAC doubleheader beginning at Noon at Walt Kammann Baseball Field.
