Men's Basketball cruises to 111-66 win over Community Christian

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Arizona Western Matadors Men's Basketball team (1-0) started the season with a 111-66 win over Community Christian (0-1) on Friday evening at the Norton Center.

Freshman guard Jannoy Thomas led all scorers in the Matadors' win, scoring 26 points to help the Matadors past the Saints.

The Matadors opened up a 25-point lead in the first half before the Saints used a 9-0 run to end the half and cut the Matadors' lead to 51-35. The Saints got to within 12 points early in the second half before the Matadors pulled away and outscored the Saints by 30 in the second half, scoring 60 points and allowing just 30 to secure the 111-66 win.

Matija Gledic and Joao Das Chagas each finished as the team's second-leading scorers, scoring 17 points while AJ Marmolejos scored 15. Cam Atkinson ended the game as the Matadors' fifth player in double-figures with 10.

The Matadors are back in action on Tuesday, November 7, heading to Imperial, Calif., to take on Imperial Valley College at 7:00 p.m. Arizona time.
