YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 4 ranked Arizona Western Matadors Men's Soccer team (9-1-1, 6-0-1) won its fifth straight game, beating Eastern Arizona (5-4, 2-4) 3-0 on Tuesday night at Matador Soccer Field.

The Matadors dominated the possession in the first 45 minutes but wouldn't break through on the scoreboard until the 45^th minute when Hiromasa Iwai took a ball off a deflection and buried a shot from 25 yards out, beating the keeper to the back post, putting the Matadors in front 1-0.

Iman Ouedraogo doubled the Matadors to lead from the penalty spot, slotting a ball to the left of the left of the Gila Monsters' keeper to push the lead to 2-0. Karim Nlamu added the Matadors' third goal of the game moments later, tucking a ball underneath the bar to extend the advantage to 3-0.

Esteban Gonzalez played all 90 minutes in goal for the Matadors and kept a clean sheet, recording the shutout in the win.

The Matadors are back in action at home on Saturday, October 12, hosting Justice College at the Matador Soccer Field at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for seniors while Arizona Western College students get in free with their AWC ID.
