Women's Basketball suffers first defeat of season, losing 66-47 to Southern Idaho

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Lady Matadors Women's Basketball team (1-1) suffered its first defeat of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 4 ranked College of Southern Idaho (2-0) 66-47.

Devyne Harris led the Lady Matadors in scoring for a second consecutive game, finishing the game with 12 points and six rebounds.

After being outscored 19-11 in the first quarter, the Lady Matadors flipped the script in the second, taking a two-point lead at 30-28 with a minute and a half left in the second quarter and trailed by two at the break after outscoring the Golden Eagles 19-13 in the second.

 Alliance Ndiba finished the game as the Lady Matadors' second-leading scorer, scoring nine points off the bench while Davielis Berroa added seven points.

Southern Idaho outscored the Lady Matadors 34-17 in the second half to pull away for the 66-47 win.

The Lady Matadors are back on the road on Thursday, November 9, heading to Midland, Texas for the Midland College Tip-Off Classic, taking on Weatherford College at 4:00 p.m.
