Baseball splits with South Mountain

In a thrilling showdown against South Mountain, Phoenix College's baseball team emerged victorious with a narrow 10-9 win in the first game. The offense showcased its power with standout performances, including home runs by Issac Lizarraga and solid contributions from Carson Bittner and Kenan Harvey, who each secured RBIs. The team's baserunning prowess was evident with Lukas Hinze and Bittner showcasing their speed with stolen bases. Despite a couple of errors, the team's fielding remained resilient, with notable defensive plays from Manny Morales and Nico Rijo-Berger. On the pitching front, a collective effort led by Heitaro Hayashi, Brayden Tambone, and Joey Parrish secured the victory, with Parrish earning the win. 

Phoenix College's baseball team faced a tough loss in their secon game against South Mountain with a final score of 13-0. Despite their efforts, the team struggled to gain momentum offensively, tallying six hits throughout the game. Drew Douglas managed to secure a double, showcasing a bright spot in the team's performance. 

On the pitching front, Ellioth Saenz, Caden Thiele, Chris Billings, Cody Ball, and Eduardo Torres took the mound in rotation. Saenz, Thiele, Billings, Ball, and Torres each made appearances, but South Mountain's offense proved challenging to contain, resulting in a significant deficit.

Despite the outcome, the team displayed resilience and determination, looking ahead to future matchups to bounce back stronger.
