Women's Soccer falls to Western Wyoming 2-1 in Roughrider Showcase

YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Women's Soccer (1-1) suffered its defeat of the season, falling 2-1 to Western Wyoming (3-0) on Friday afternoon at Ken Lindley Field at the Roughrider Showcase.

Western Wyoming opened the scoring in the 23rd minute taking a 1-0 lead before the Lady Matadors equalized in the 41st minute on Ashly Martinez's third goal of the season.

The game remained level until the 84th minute when the Mustangs put in the game-winning goal. Lady Matadors' keeper Tindra Bierdemann made a pair of saves in the loss.

The Lady Matadors return to action on Saturday, September 2, hosting Chandler-Gilbert at 4:30 pm at Matador Soccer Field. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for seniors while Arizona Western College students get in free with their AWC ID.
