
The Phoenix College Bears completed a season sweep over South Mountain, winning all three meetings this year. With this latest victory, the Bears improve to 12-13 overall and 6-8 in conference play, now tied for fourth place with Glendale.
Balanced Scoring Leads the Way
The Bears saw strong contributions from multiple players in the win. Mya Ruiz led the charge with 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Jayla Cal followed closely with 17 points, five rebounds, and four steals. Daiana Hollman recorded a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, while Nashelle Ponds added another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Off the bench, Breanna Romero (8 points, 3 assists) and Tylor Mullen (7 points, 9 rebounds) provided key minutes, helping Phoenix College control the boards.
The Bears will look to build on this momentum as they continue their push toward postseason positioning in the competitive ACCAC standings.
