
Rally falls short in Baseball's 8-3 loss to No. 17 College of Southern Nevada
YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Baseball team (28-14, 13-11) opened up a three-game series in Henderson, Nev., with an 8-3 loss to No. 17-ranked College of Southern Nevada (33-10, 19-9) on Friday afternoon at Morse Stadium.
The Coyotes opened the scoring early, scoring six of their eight runs in the first three innings, including a four-run second inning.
Gerado Castro went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Bronson Neave drove in a run and went 1-for-4 in the loss.
The Matadors got on the board in the fourth inning, cutting the Coyotes' lead to 6-1 on a Castro double scoring Luca Hoerger.
Arizona Western added two runs in the ninth inning to cut the deficit to five runs on a Neave RBI single and a Hoerger fielder's choice.
Isaac Comacho allowed one run in two innings of relief while striking out one batter in the series-opening loss.
The Matadors and Coyotes continue the series on Saturday, April 5 with a doubleheader beginning at Noon at Morse Stadium.
