Women's Basketball opens season with 60-47 win over Trappers

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Arizona Western Lady Matadors Women's Basketball team (1-0) opened the 2023-24 season with a 60-47 win over Northwest (0-2) in the Idaho Central Credit Union Invite in Twin Falls, Idaho on Friday afternoon.

Freshman guard Dyvine Harris led the Lady Matadors in scoring in the season opener, scoring 17 points to help lead the Lady Matadors to a second-half comeback win over the Trappers.

Arizona Western was outscored 29-27 in the first half before coming out of the locker room and holding the Trappers to just four points in the third quarter, outscoring Northwest 16-4 to grab the lead.

Alliance Ndiba came off the bench and put together a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in the win while Alynna Palacios finished with 11 points and led the team in assists with seven.

The Lady Matadors outscored the Trappers 17-14 to pull away for the season-opening win in their first of two games of the weekend in Idaho.

The Lady Matadors are back in action on Saturday, November 4, taking on the hosts College of Southern Idaho at 4:00 p.m.
