Hoffmeyer secures 13-point, 17-rebound double-double as Women's Basketball wins ACCAC opener

Five players scored in double figures as No. 13 Aztecs Women's Basketball opened ACCAC conference play with a 93-60 victory over Phoenix College. The Pima Community College women's basketball team (4-1, 1-0 in ACCAC conference) got off to a strong start and maintained a double-digit advantage in its ACCAC conference opener on Tuesday against Phoenix College (1-6, 0-1).

  • The No. 13 ranked Aztecs started the game on a 10-0 run and outscored the Bears 30-11 in the first quarter in route to their 93-60 win.
  • The Aztecs led by as much as 38 points in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter.
  • The Aztecs had five players score in double figures. Sophomore Dominique Acosta (Nogales HS) scored a team-high 18 points as she went 8 for 12 from the field.
  • Freshman Rori Hoffmeyer (Cibola HS) had 10 rebounds after the first half of play and finished the game with a double-double of 13 points and 17 rebounds. She went 5 for 9 from the field and added three assists, two steals and two blocks.
  • Freshmen Annalise Holthaus (Ironwood Ridge HS) and Gabby Lopez (Bisbee HS) each contributed with 12 points off the bench. Holthaus was 3 for 5 from the field and had six rebounds. Lopez went 5 for 8 and snagged five boards.
  • Freshman Rylei Waugh posted 10 points, six assists, four rebounds and four steals.
  • The Aztecs dominated the glass as they out-rebounded the Bears 64-37. Pima also hit seven 3-pointers.

The Aztecs are off until next Tuesday when they host Glendale Community College at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
