
Men's Soccer showcased their resilience and determination against #16 Glendale Community College Tuesday night. The hard-fought battle ended in a 2-2 tie.
Puma Head Coach Coach DeVries expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "We're happy to come on the road and pick up critical points against a ranked team. The guys showed some real heart tonight, coming back from a goal down not once, but twice."
The match was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities throughout the game. GCC struck first with a goal by Nicholas Armenta Valdez, assisted by Edgar Ocampo. But the Pumas responded with an equalizer from Alan Acosta, assisted by Daniel Vargas. The Gauchos regained the lead just before halftime on a penalty kick by Jean Londono. In the second half, Benjamin Orozco scored the tying goal for the Pumas, assisted by Joel Hernandez on a corner kick.
The Pumas' goalkeeper, Preston Parsons, made an impressive 10 saves, including several crucial stops to keep the Pumas in the game.
The tie against a nationally ranked opponent is a testament to the Pumas' dedication and hard work. The Pumas will look to build on this momentum as they match up next against Scottsdale Community College on Saturday, September 14, in their home opener. Kickoff is set for at 10:00am.
