SMCC Men's Hoops Falls to Williston State College

The SMCC men's basketball team lost 84-79 to Williston State College in a non-conference contest on Dec. 15 at the SMCC Gym. Jaylen Wesley led the Cougars with 31 points and Parker Escalante had 14 and Bobby Holcomb  added 12, but the Cougars could not hold on to a five-point halftime lead. 

SMCC led 41-36 after 20 minutes as the Cougars shot 45.7 percent (16 of 35) from the field and  had 10 assists. However in the second half, the Tetons shot 57.7 percent (15 of 26) from the field and made six 3-pointers to win the half 48-38. 

The Cougars finished with 29 rebounds, 16 assists, 11 steals, and two blocked shots in the contest. They also made a season-high 12 3-pointers. 

Wesley was 12 of 22 from the floor and made two 3-pointers. He added nine rebounds, six assists, four steals and a block in 34 minutes.

Escalante was second on the team with 14 points and connected on a pair of 3-pointers. He added three assists and a rebound in 32 minutes.

Holcomb made four 3-pointers to post 12 points and added three rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes.

Nyzhir Brown made three 3-pointers to finish with nine points and added two rebounds. Coleman Anderson came off the bench to post seven points, three steals, two rebounds and an assist in 11 minutes.
