Men's Soccer tops LSU-Eunice 3-0 to advance to semifinals

WICHITA, Kan. – For the third consecutive season the Arizona Western Matadors Men's Soccer team advanced to the semi-final round of the NJCAA DI Men's Soccer Championships with a 3-0 win over LSU-Eunice on Tuesday morning at Stryker Complex.

After 41 goalless minutes, the Matadors opened the scoring in the 42nd minute off a set piece. Asaki Nakamura swung a free kick into the 18-yard box just above the six-yard box where Shuntaro Endo tapped the ball past the LSU-Eunice keeper to give the Matadors a 1-0 lead.

The Matadors wasted little time adding a second just two minutes into the second half when Rezhis Koxhaj blasted a shot from just inside the box past the keeper to push the lead to 2-0. The Matadors got a third thanks to an LSU-Eunice mishap in the 51st minute when the keeper misplayed the ball into his own net, extending the lead to 3-0.

The Matadors are back in action on Thursday, November 14, taking on an opponent to be determined at 2:00 pm MST.
