Central Arizona's Harmon inducted into North American Indigenous Athletics Hall of Fame

Central Arizona Head Cross County Coach Jonathan Harmon was inducted into the North American Indigenous Athletics Hall of Fame last week.

Harmon, who is the first Native American head coach at Central Arizona College, was born on the Navajo Reservation and is a member of the Hopi Tribe and is the only current Native American head coach in the NJCAA.

Harmon started at Central Arizona in 2010 as an assistant and was elevated to Head Coach in 2021 where he guided both Men’s and Women’s teams to an eighth-place finish at the NJCAA National Meet before leading both programs to a seventh-place finish a year later.

Before his time in Coolidge, Harmon started his career coaching at Holbrook High School where he still holds the school record in the 1600m and 3200 m as an alum.
