
DI Men’s Soccer
Arizona Western remained the top team in the latest NJCAA DI Men’s Soccer poll after winning a pair of games last week. The Matadors started the week with a 2-1 win over Pima on Tuesday to clinch the ACCAC title before finishing the week off with a 9-0 win at home against GateWay. The Matadors are in action twice this week, heading to Paradise Valley on Tuesday for the ACCAC finale before finishing the regular season with a non-conference matchup with Imperial Valley.
DII Men’s Soccer
Pima remained No. 2 in this week’s NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer poll after going 1-1 last week. The Aztecs bounced back after falling to Arizona Western on Tuesday to beat Eastern Arizona 3-0 on the road to claim their 11th victory of the season. The Aztecs finish the regular season with a home game against South Mountain on Tuesday.
Phoenix stayed two spots behind Pima at No. 4 thanks to a week in which they won their lone contest, beating Yavapai 2-0 at home on Saturday night for their fifth shutout win of the season. The Bears have one game remaining in the regular season as they head out on the road to battle Scottsdale on Tuesday evening.
Mesa jumped five spots in the latest poll to No. 12 thanks to a pair of wins last week, beating both Paradise Valley and Chandler-Gilbert. The Thunderbirds opened last week with a 4-3 win on the road over the Pumas before returning home on Saturday to beat the Coyotes 3-1. The Thunderbirds have won three in a row and finish the season with games at Glendale and at home vs South Mountain.
DI Women’s Soccer
Arizona Western stayed at No. 9 in this week’s poll after outscoring its opponents 20-1 in two games last week. The Lady Matadors started the week with a 6-0 road win at Pima and finished the week with a 14-1 win over GateWay at home. The Lady Matadors have one game remaining when they head to Paradise Valley on Tuesday.
DII Women’s Soccer
Phoenix fell one spot this week to No. 3 after settling for a 2-2 draw with Yavapai on Saturday night in its lone game of the week. The Bears are unbeaten in their last five games and wrap up the regular season with a road game at Scottsdale on Tuesday evening.
Scottsdale remained at No. 11 this week and finished last week with a draw and a win. The Fighting Artichokes fought to a 4-4 draw on Tuesday with Eastern Arizona on the road before heading to South Mountain on Saturday where they picked up a 6-0 win over the Cougars. Scottsdale returns home to wrap up the regular season on Tuesday in a showdown with Phoenix.
DI Volleyball
Arizona Western held steady at No. 20 in the latest NJCAA DI Volleyball poll after only playing once last week. The Lady Matadors went out on the road and picked up a 3-1 win over Yavapai on Friday evening. The Lady Matadors are in action once this week, heading to Scottsdale on Wednesday to take on the Fighting Artichokes.
DII Volleyball
Scottsdale once again tops the NJCAA DII Volleyball poll thanks to two more wins to push their winning streak to 17 matches. The Fighting Artichokes started the week with a sweep of Mesa at home before outlasting Glendale in a 3-2 thriller on Friday evening. Scottsdale hosts Arizona Western on Wednesday and heads to Pima on Friday.
Chandler-Gilbert moved up one spot in this week’s poll to No. 13 thanks to a perfect week. The Coyotes got the week started with a 3-1 win over Pima before beating South Mountain 3-1 on Friday. The Coyotes have won six straight matches and head to Glendale on Wednesday to take on the Gauchos before hosting Phoenix on Friday.
