ACCAC announces Players of the Week for 9/10-9/16

VOLLEYBALL

DI Offensive: Josi Capellan – Arizona Western – The sophomore from Orlando, Fla., had 14 kills in four matches over the weekend, averaging one kill per set, helping the Lady Matadors to a 2-2 record at the Lady Coyote Volleyball Classic in Las Vegas. The outside hitter recorded five kills in a 3-1 loss to No. 15 Southern Idaho and matched the mark in a 3-0 win over Southern Nevada on Saturday.

 

DI Defensive: Aly Reeser – Arizona Western – The Greeley, Colo., native recorded 29 digs in four matches over the weekend, tallying 13 digs in a 3-1 loss to No. 15 Southern Idaho on Friday, finishing the weekend with seven in a 3-0 win over Southern Nevada and six in a 3-1 loss to No. 14 Utah State Eastern. The sophomore averaged just over two digs per set in Las Vegas.

 

D2 Offensive: Macee Lesueur – Scottsdale – The sophomore tallied 25 kills in just seven sets in two matches last week, averaging 3.6 kills per set and setting a season-high with 13 kills in a 3-1 win at Glendale on Friday. Lesueur started the week with 12 kills in a straight sets win over Mesa on Wednesday.

 

D2 Defensive: Sofia Cortesio – Glendale – The freshman libero recorded 44 digs in two matches last week, setting a career-high with 23 digs in a 3-0 win over South Mountain on Wednesday and added 21 more digs in a 3-1 loss to Scottsdale two nights later. Cortesio averaged 6.3 digs per set in the two matches last week.

D1 Men’s Soccer: Erick Mejia – Arizona Western – The sophomore assisted on three of the Matadors seven goals last week, helping Arizona Western to a pair of wins. Mejia recorded an assist in a comeback 3-2 win over Glendale on Tuesday before assisting on a pair of goals in a 4-0 win over Eastern Arizona on Saturday.
