Non-conference action featured in women's basketball

    The holiday season is upon us, and ACCAC women's basketball is feeling the effects with just one conference game played last week, In that game Eastern Arizona (13-2, 4-2) topped South Mountain (1-5, 0-4), 71-23.

  There were, however, a number of non-conference contests played.

  EAC was involved in another of the collegiate games, beating Community Christian, 99-33.

  Mesa (7-4, 3-3) played two collegiate games, against the same college, with two wildly different results. The T-Birds hosted Williston (N.D.) State, winning first, 73-72 in overtime and then 57-30 the next day. Mykah Anderson led the first win with 15 points, while Stacey Begay had a 13-12 double-double and Jayla Johnson had one with 10 points and 11 rebounds. In the next win Anderson paced MCC with 14 points.

  In other collegiate games, Ranger (Texas) topped Cochise, 53-44. Corina Suarez Tudela paced the Apaches with 17 points and 12 rebounds. New Mexico JC also knocked off CC, 67-53, with Jessenia Lawson collecting an 11-12 double-double.

  Also, Central Arizona (11-0, 5-0) stopped Southern Nevada, 83-74, with Senya Rabouin scoring 20 points and Seairra Hughes recording a double-double, with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

 In non-collegiate competition, Chandler-Gilbert (5-7, 2-4) beat the Park U. JV, 68-63. Tianna McKinley scored 16 to lead five in double figures.
